Clothing is the shell of a person, and is more important than ever. In addition, people should be happy with what they wear, which is why the shirts people buy vary between people. It’s hard to tell what a person is into if they are stuck wearing a plain school shirt all day. If students did not have to wear school shirts, they could express their ideas through clothing. They could wear a shirt of their favorite color, show, or it might just be a shirt that they like. No school shirts would grant students would have a bigger variety of what they could wear to school, and express their creativity through different outfits. Families could also save money from not buying expensive school uniforms which their children dislike, so it helps more than just the student.
There are many students in school and school is usually 5 days a week. Therefore companies have to manufacture large amounts of shirts efficiently and in a somewhat efficient cheap manner. This means that each shirt would not be of the most expensive, comfortable material, but instead a cheap material which is easily accessible. School shirts are often uncomfortable for many students, but this wouldn’t be a problem if we could wear whatever we wanted to school. A majority of the shirts that we own are comfortable to wear based on personal preference, so people would feel better wearing a shirt that they like and is comfortable rather than a cheaply made uniform. Going back to the first reason, students would have more shirts that they feel are more comfortable wearing since they wear them more freely and willingly rather than school uniforms.
Overall, school uniforms should not be enforced to wear at school as it allows to express themselves through their clothing (freedom) and school uniforms are uncomfortable. However, there are others who may say that school uniforms are there for safety reasons, as it allows everyone to know what the school is and keeps everything somewhat organized. On the contrary, that is why we have IDs in our school, as it identifies who we are and that we are part of Kaua’i High School. Since IDS are already a thing, it is overkill to have school uniforms to identify as students of the school. Isn’t it easy to see that no school uniforms are better for the students as they will be happier without them?
